The Natal Scribe operates this store and website, including all related information, content, features, tools, products, and digital services, in order to provide you, the customer, with a curated experience (the "Services"). The Natal Scribe is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information when you visit, use, or make a purchase or other transaction using the Services or otherwise communicate with us.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using and accessing any of the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy and understand the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described herein.

1. PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT OR PROCESS

When we use the term "personal information," we are referring to information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you. Depending on how you interact with the Services, we may collect or process:

Astrological & Birth Data. To provide our astrological Services — both paid dossiers and free sample pages — we collect your date of birth, time of birth (optional), and place of birth (country, state, city). This data is used exclusively to calculate your natal chart and generate your personalized document. It is the only way such a document can be produced.

Contact & Billing Details. Your first name, email address, and billing address. As our products are entirely digital, we do not collect physical shipping addresses.

Financial Information. Payment card information and transaction details, processed securely by our payment partners (e.g., Shopify Payments, Stripe, PayPal). We never see or store your full card number.

Quiz & Lead Data. If you take our free quiz or request free sample pages, we collect your email address, your first name, your quiz responses (where applicable), and the birth data you choose to provide. This data is used to deliver your result and your document and, with your consent, to send you our email correspondence.

Usage, Device & Cookie Information. Information about your device, browser, IP address, and how you navigate the Services, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

2. HOW YOUR BIRTH DATA IS PROCESSED (AUTOMATED WORKFLOW & AI)

Your document is produced by a secure automated workflow. When you submit a request, your data passes through the following processors, each performing one narrow task:

— Make (automation platform): orchestrates the workflow;
— OpenStreetMap Nominatim: converts your birth place into geographic coordinates;
— TimeZoneDB: determines the historical timezone of your birth moment;
— FreeAstrologyAPI: computes planetary positions;
— OpenAI (generative language model API): drafts the text of your document from the computed chart;
— Google Workspace (Slides, Drive, Gmail): assembles the final document and delivers it to your email;
— Klaviyo: stores your email address, first name, and related properties for delivery and correspondence.

Data sent to our AI provider is used solely to generate your personal report. We use API services under terms that do not permit the use of your data to train public models. Some processors may temporarily retain data (for example, for abuse monitoring) in accordance with their own policies, after which it is deleted on their side.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

To Provide the Services: to calculate your chart, generate and deliver your documents, process payments, and provide customer support.

Marketing: if you have opted in, we send you email correspondence — insights, releases, and offers. Every email contains an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time.

Security and Fraud Prevention: to authenticate payments, prevent fraudulent transactions, and secure our website.

4. LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING (EU/EEA & UK)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process your data on the following bases: performance of a contract (generating and delivering the document you requested — Art. 6(1)(b)); your consent (email marketing and the collection of birth data before a purchase, given when you tick the consent box on our forms — Art. 6(1)(a)); and legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, basic analytics — Art. 6(1)(f)). You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future.

5. HOW WE DISCLOSE PERSONAL INFORMATION

We share personal information only for legitimate business purposes: with the service providers listed in Section 2 so they can perform services on our behalf; with Shopify, which hosts our store and processes orders; and where required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of The Natal Scribe, our users, or others.

We DO NOT sell your personal information or your birth data. We do not share your birth data with advertisers or data brokers.

6. COOKIES AND TARGETED ADVERTISING

We use cookies to power our website and understand how you interact with the Services. We may share browsing data (not your birth data) with advertising partners to show you relevant ads on other websites. Depending on your location (e.g., California), this may be considered "sharing" or "targeted advertising." You may opt out using the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser or by contacting us directly.

7. CHILDREN'S DATA

Our Services are intended for individuals who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Our request forms require confirmation that you are 18 or older. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately and we will delete it.

8. SECURITY AND RETENTION

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information. Generated documents and the associated birth data are retained so that we can re-issue your file, provide support, and comply with legal obligations. If you request deletion, we erase your birth data and generated documents from our active systems within 30 days.

9. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

Depending on where you reside (including the EU/EEA under the GDPR and California under the CCPA), you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request permanent deletion of your personal information, including your birth data and generated documents; correct inaccurate data; receive a copy of your data in a portable format; and withdraw consent or unsubscribe from marketing at any time.

10. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Your personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed outside the country in which you reside, including in the United States (Shopify, Google, OpenAI, Klaviyo, Make) and the European Union. Where such transfers occur, we rely on recognized safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses used by our processors.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page.
